Our Annie Sloan 25 Project Community Space Transformation
Love Restored and Annie Sloan know that living a sustainable life is about creating thriving communities which everyone can enjoy. Sometimes it is not enough to live our own lives in as green a way as possible; sometimes, we have to reach out and do something to make our communities better places to live. That is just what we at Love Restored try to do. Most recently, we have been giving back by helping to brighten up Charlie's Shed at the Methilhill Community Children's Initiative (MCCI) as part of Annie Sloan's wonderful 25 Project.
This is one of the community spaces that was selected by Annie Sloan to undergo a transformation. It was one of hundreds of spaces that were nominated to receive one of the 25 Project makeovers announced by Annie Sloan to celebrate 25 years of transformations using chalk paint. We at Love Restored were delighted to play our part in enhancing this worthwhile community space.
Charlie's Shed Indoor Space at MCCI
The MCCI is a wonderful community group dedicated to providing activities for children and young people and helping them to have fun, learn and grow. Charlie's Shed is a multi-functional space down at the community learning garden. Before, its wooden walls and functional furniture were rather plain. Now, with the help of some elbow grease and Annie Sloan chalk paints, it is a bright and cheerful child-friendly space.
Old Donated School Chairs and Desks were Painted in Bright Colours
The chairs and tables were painted in bright, primary colours from the Annie Sloan range. Not only do they look great, the project also allowed some young people to try something and learn a new skill. The MCCI is fantastic at giving young people the change to learn skills and try new things that will stand them in good stead later in life – showing them that learning can also be a whole lot of fun.
The Kids having Fun with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint at MCCI
The outside was brought inside with images from nature adorning the walls. A tree, flowers, mushrooms, birds, clouds and a rainbow overhead – all of these elements now come together to create a welcoming and cheerful feel that will further encourage the children and young people to engage with the natural world around them and to learn in the garden.
The Finished 25 Project
The Volunteers with Lorraine and Nadia at Love Restored
Sometimes, it just takes a lick of paint to totally transform a space. Sometimes, it just takes a little extra effort to enhance a community. This project illustrates perfectly that when we take things into our own hands and work together, we can create something really beautiful. We at Love Restored look forward to being an active part of the community for many years to come.
Lorraine and Nadia would like to thank the Team and kids at MCCI for all their help and to Annie Sloan too for her donation of Chalk Paint Supplies and also to Kendo's Coffee for helping with the photos.
